Privacy Policy

What this website knows about you, which is very little, and what happens to the email you send reception.

Who publishes this site

These pages are published by Obsidian Shore Casino Resort, the company that runs the hotel, its four kitchens, the steam terraces and the Caldera Hall casino floor. Questions about anything written here go to [email protected] with the word data in the subject line.

There is no booking engine here

You cannot create an account on this website, you cannot reserve a room through it and you cannot pay us a single unit of currency on it. There is no login, no basket, no card form and no wallet. Reservations are made by email or by telephone with reception, and casino chips are bought in person at the cage with your own money.

The same goes for the casino itself: this is a land-based casino floor inside a hotel. The website offers no online casino games, takes no bets and processes no payments, so there is no gambling account, no balance and no play history for us to hold about you.

What is collected when you read these pages

  • Nothing, if you only read. No form, no profile, no identifier of our own.
  • Two values in your own browser. obs_age_ok records that you confirmed being 18 or over; obs_consent records your answer to the cookie banner. Both sit in local storage on your device and are never sent to us with a request. The Cookie Policy describes them in detail.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records the usual technical lines for every request: an IP address, a timestamp, the file asked for, the status code, the referring page and the browser string. These exist so that the site can be kept running and defended against abuse.
  • Whatever you put in an email. If you write to reception, we hold your message, your address and anything you chose to tell us in it — dates, a dietary note, the fact that you need a roll-in shower.

Analytics and advertising, only after you agree

We buy search advertising, and we would like to know whether it works. Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads measurement tags are present on these pages, but they are loaded in Google Consent Mode with every category set to denied before you answer the banner. In that state they store nothing on your device and send no identifiers. If you choose Accept all, the categories switch to granted and the tags begin to work normally. If you choose Essential only, they stay denied for as long as that choice is stored.

What we see from analytics is counts, not people: how many visits landed on the rooms, how far down the casino section readers get, which advertisement a visit came from. We do not upload customer lists, we do not build audience segments by hand, and we never try to re-identify a visitor.

Lawful bases

  • Legitimate interests for server logs and site security: a website that cannot be kept online and protected is no use to anybody.
  • Legitimate interests for replying to an enquiry you sent us, and for keeping the thread while the conversation is live.
  • Consent for analytics and advertising measurement, freely given, refusable, and withdrawable at any moment from the cookie settings link in the footer.
  • Legal obligation, in the narrow cases where accounting or licensing rules fix how long a record has to survive.

How long things are kept

  • Server logs: a rolling window of about thirty days, then overwritten.
  • Email correspondence: up to two years after the last message, so that a returning guest does not have to explain everything twice. Ask and we will delete your thread sooner.
  • Analytics data: retained inside Google Analytics under the shortest retention setting the product allows.
  • The two browser values: on your device until you clear the site storage. We cannot delete them for you.

Who else sees anything

Our hosting provider, which stores the files and the logs. Google, as the processor behind Analytics and Ads, but only for visitors who consented. Our email provider, which carries the messages you send reception. Nobody buys data from us, nobody rents it, and we do not sell or share personal information for anyone else's advertising. Where a provider operates outside your country, the transfer rests on the standard contractual clauses that provider publishes.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to processing that rests on legitimate interests. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it without giving a reason and without any effect on your welcome at the hotel. Write to [email protected] and a reply will reach you inside a month of your asking. An answer you are not happy with can be taken to the data protection regulator in your own country.

Children

This site is written for adults. The casino floor is for guests aged 18 and over, the age gate exists to keep gambling material away from minors, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us personal information, tell us and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

When the site changes, this page changes with it, and the review date at the top moves. Anything that affects how your data is handled will be described here in plain words rather than slipped into a paragraph of definitions.
